da realsbet: Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has no regrets in regards to playing a second-string side in their 3-0 thrashing by Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, according to reports from the Mirror.
da roleta: The Lilywhites are now almost certainly out of the Europa League, with a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a brace from Marco Reus giving the BVB a huge advantage ahead of the second leg at White Hart Lane next week.
However, Pochettino insists that he has no qualms in his decision to field a weakened side, in which he made no less than seven changes to the team that drew Arsenal 2-2 over the weekend.
He said: “I’ve got no regrets. When we analysed the squad, we tried to pick a starting XI to win the game.
“It started okay, but it was a really bad day for us. I’m very disappointed with the result. It was a bad day in the office. We just did not have enough quality.”
Star striker Harry Kane was one of the omissions, with young 18-year-old midfielder Josh Onomah given a rare start.
But despite this, Pochettino has blasted his players’ performances, claiming that they did not do well enough to halt the Bundesliga attack.
He added: “I told the players that to play at the next level you must compete with team like Borussia Dortmund which is a real test.
“It was good for us to feel what a game in the Champions League feels like. But it was a bad result. We were disappointed but it was a very good test for us to compare the levels.
“It is going to be tough for us now but we need to try and fight for the tie. It is difficult but we are always optimistic.”
Spurs play Aston Villa in their next league fixture this Sunday.
