da brdice: Juan Foyth endured a torrid display as Tottenham Hotspur drew 2-2 with Norwich City on Saturday.
On the chalkboard
da pinup bet: The Argentine defender was at fault for the Canaries’ first goal, losing the ball in his own half after attempting to roam forward with possession.
As a result, Mario Vrancic ran through one-on-one with Paulo Gazzaniga and scored.
Spurs were roundly terrible in the first half but Foyth’s performance stood out and he was substituted at half-time along with Jan Vertonghen.
In his 45 minutes on the pitch, Foyth had 35 touches of the ball and a pass success rate of 74%.
While he did make three tackles, the 21-year-old was dribbled past once and was also dispossessed, directly leading to Norwich’s opener.
His substitution was perhaps symbolic – now he must improve if he is to make any sort of mark under Jose Mourinho.
No clues whatsoever: Which seasons do these iconic Spurs images belong to?
Rusty
Outside of the game against Norwich, Foyth has played just one Premier League minute under Mourinho, coming against Wolves.
He did play 90 minutes in the Champions League dead rubber against Bayern Munich but this is a player who is out of match practice.
It is perhaps understandable given that Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez block his path in the first-team but, still, a solution has to be found.
If he is not going to play regularly this season, perhaps a loan move could be the best option for all parties.
Not only would it allow Foyth to play but it would also let Mourinho assess his showings at a distance and decide whether or not to give him the chance to work his way into the first XI on a more consistent basis.
As it is, occasionally bringing him in for the odd game here and there is doing nobody any favours.
Meanwhile, one man could be key for Spurs under Mourinho.
