da bet7: Manchester United are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement for Jose Mourinho, according to The Independent.
What’s the word?
Mauricio Pochettino’s stock has risen significantly after an impressive few years at Tottenham and the Lilywhites now look set for a major challenge if they are to retain the services of their Argentine boss.
The Independent states that the Spurs boss is Manchester United’s ideal target to replace Jose Mourinho, should they axe the Portuguese boss in the coming weeks, which could lead to a nervy couple of weeks in North London.
Mourinho’s position is under threat following a woeful run of form that includes last weekend’s defeat at West Ham and the EFL Cup clash with Derby, where the Red Devils were knocked out on penalties. Hovering 10th in the table, the calls for Mourinho to go have become increasingly louder.
Spurs biggest asset?
Tottenham have done well to keep their prized assets out of the clutches of Europe’s top sides in recent seasons, retaining the services of key players like Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli, Hugo Lloris and Danny Rose.

It is fair to say that if Pochettino were to go, then top players may also seek an exit and Tottenham now face a crucial test in ensuring that the Argentine boss is not lured away to join a Premier League rival – as he would be impossible to replace.
Thankfully, Daniel Levy is extremely unlikely to sanction an exit midway through the season but the reports still fire a warning to Spurs ahead of next summer, when the club will have to balance the financial implications of their stadium move.
