da dobrowin: Leeds United fought out a nine-goal thriller on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t any of their own players that caught the eye of some supporters up at St Andrew’s.
da luck: Marcelo Bielsa’s side rose back to the top of the Championship table with a 5-4 victory over Birmingham City with their winner coming in the 95th-minute courtesy of a Wes Harding own goal.
The home side fought back on three occasions to tie things up, but it was all in vain while Helder Costa, Jack Harrison, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas all got on the scoresheet themselves.
But neither was the name on the lips of the travelling support, but rather the Blues’ young starlet Jude Bellingham, who scored their opening goal just before the half-hour mark.
The 16-year-old was praised as being a ‘superb young talent’ with a bright future…
Others called him a ‘nuisance’ and that he was a ‘brilliant player’ regardless of his young age.
Per SofaScore, Bellingham recorded a 100% dribble success rate from two attempts, managed two tackles and won over half his ground duels, aside from bagging a goal himself.
Which is probably why many saw him run rings around United left-back Ezgjan Alioski…
One supporter highlighted that the Blues midfielder gave the 27-year-old all sorts of problems while another claimed he had him on toast in every duel the pair had.
His performance was so good that some members of the Whites faithful pleaded the club to try and sign him with Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta both getting tweets directed at them in a similar vein.
The Yorkshiremen have never been concretely linked with the emerging prospect so much of the comment is tongue in cheek, if they could secure such a talent, however, then it would only bolster Bielsa’s squad long-term as the 16-year-old has proven to be a very versatile option for Pep Clotet this term.
Virtually impossible: Can you name the year all of these Leeds flops arrived at Elland Road?
And in other Leeds news, this is where Phil Hay believes the club will target players next month…
