da spicy bet: According to reports from the Stoke Sentinel, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is considering how to reinvest the funds generated from Marko Arnautovic’s £23million transfer to Premier League rivals West Ham.
da betsul: Having netted 17 times over the last two seasons, the Austrian forward leaves a sizeable hole in the Potters’ attack that Hughes now has the rest of the transfer window to try and fill.
And, to quote the Sentinel, the Welshman has ‘dusted off his little black book’ in search of a solution, which has seen former targets Yevhen Konoplyanka and Andriy Yarmolenko, both Ukraine internationals with 63 and 68 caps respectively, re-emerge on his radar.
Konoplyanka officially joins Schalke this summer following a season-long loan at the Veltins Arena. But it didn’t exactly go to plan, scoring just once in 17 Bundesliga outings and reportedly falling out with manager Markus Weinzierl who was later sacked.
Yarmolenko, meanwhile, still plies his trade in Ukraine with Dynamo Kyiv and boasts an impressive 29 goals for his national team.
It seems unlikely Stoke will be able to seal deals for both forwards this summer, so who do you think is the better candidate to fill Arnautovic’s boots, Potters fans? Let us know by voting below…
