da bet7: As the January transfer window enters it’s final week, clubs are scrambling to fulfil their last minute needs before deadline day.
da 888casino: When it comes to the January transfer window, Liverpool have enjoyed success in recent years with the likes of Luis Suarez, Philipe Coutinho Daniel Sturridge, Javier Mascherano and even Daniel Agger join the squad during the winter window.
The Reds have always been able to determine what their teams have been lacking and sort out those problems midway through a campaign. Throughout this season, they have suffered goalkeeping issues at Anfield as Saturday’s offensive battle saw keeper Simon Mignolet concede four goals to a weak Norwich City.
Mignolet currently has the worst save per 90 minutes among any other goalie in the league at only 1.36. In his last 206 minutes on the pitch, he has conceded four goals and failed to save at least one shot on target.
The Belgium international has been criticised throughout his entire two-and-half year tenure at Anfield and his recent form calls for the club to seek out another goalkeeper this January.
The Candidate – Marc-André ter Stegen
Jurgen Klopp has reportedly been preparing a £20million offer to purchase the Germany international and Barcelona keeper.
The 23-year-old has proven that he can play as a top stopper with his performances for Borussia Mochengladbach when he was named Bundesliga goalkeeper of the year in 2012 by Kicker magazine, and then Barcelona.
While he has not played in many league games since arriving at Camp Nou, in 2014 he featured in 21 cup matches as the Catalan side won the Copa Del Ray and Champions League. The same pattern of cup starts has been true for the German this year, too…
What’s He Like?
At 23 years old, the German has tons of potential and it’s shown not only in his shot blocking, but his ability to create chances for the rest of his side.
His long passing is remarkable from the box and he has a calm aggressiveness to his game. He’s not afraid to dribble with the ball or run out of the box to win possession, doing so with composure.
Would He Fit At Liverpool?
Absolutely. Mignolet has shown that there needs to be some sort of change between the sticks for the Reds. Liverpool have many needs to address this January and their biggest one at the moment is the goalkeeper. The calm but aggressive nature of the young keeper is just what the Reds need. Despite Simon Mignolet recently signing a 5-year contract extension, the Reds should be in the market for a new goalkeeper.
Worth A Punt?
Over £20million for any player is a lot, but with the recent performances from Mignolet, the Reds are desperate for new face.
ter Stegen has shown that he has the talent to play as an everyday started while also having loads of potential. Klopp should be aggressive in this final week of the transfer window and actively pursue the young keeper.
