da betsul: Jurgen Klopp’s temptation to sign players from the Bundesliga continues as he adds – or is linked with – endless names from the German top flight as he looks to bolster his inconsistent Liverpool squad with both trusted performers and bright young things.
da mrbet: Fresh from their Europa League disappointment, Liverpool’s weaknesses are glaring as much as their overwhelming strengths are brilliant. The defence continues to be an area of concern for Klopp and his colleagues, whilst the defensive midfield berth seems short of a natural stopper.
Whether they will be former Borussia Dortmund stalwarts, or players Klopp has eyed up from other rivals in the league, there is surely a strong chance that several Bundesliga star names will appear at Anfield before the window closes. After all, Loris Karius and Joel Matip have already been signed from Mainz and Schalke respectively.
It could be just one, or it could be 10, Klopp might get a little carried away, we imagine.
So, here are FIVE Germans who are as good as any for Klopp to target…
Andre Schurrle
A World Cup winner, Andre Schurrle certainly has the pedigree to have a solid chance of success at Liverpool.
The former Chelsea man always looked a threat for the Blues and has continued his impressive start to career as a regular with Wolfsburg and Germany. Often used as a perfect impact sub, Schurrle would slot nicely into the high intensity of Klopp’s game with his electric pace making him a great outlet.
Leroy Sane
One of the most promising young players in Europe, Sane would surely command quite a substantial fee if he were to leave Schalke this summer.
Sane is one of several talented youngsters who has worked his way into the Germany squad for this summer’s European Championships and, like Schurrle, possesses terrifying pace that could be quite an asset for Liverpool.
Natural width is a must in Klopp’s sides and Sane would certainly provide that.
Jonas Hector
Another player who made the Germany squad for this summer’s tournament, Hector is at his best at left-back.
On occasion, the German has filled in as a left-sided centre-half for his club but, if signed, would primarily be a replacement/competitor with Alberto Moreno for the left-back spot.
Julian Weigl
Capable of playing in a number of midfield roles, Weigl would give Klopp a lot of versatility in the centre of the park.
Arguably, the Borussia Dortmund man is at his best when dropping slightly deeper to protect the centre-backs and has an exemplary passing range that no current Liverpool midfielder can really offer in the same manner. If required, Weigl can fill in for several other positions, too.
Leon Goretzka
Like Weigl, Goretzka is an incredibly versatile midfield player.
The Schalke man prefers to play in a box-to-box role, but has been found playing on either flank, behind the striker or as a deeper player shielding the defence. Goretzka has an almost mechanical engine that sees him produce end-to-end runs even in the dying embers of a game and, along with several other players at his club, will be being watched by some of the biggest clubs around.
