Although Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were the headline-grabbing stars of the show, Kante’s energetic performances in midfield were vital to the club’s success, and it’s already been suggested that Chelsea are closing in on a deal for the enforcer now he’s back from EURO 2016, where he shone for France.
And should the former Caen man head for west London, reports claim that Leicester will look to secure the signature of Sissoko.
The rangy midfielder, who was also a part of France’s EURO set-up, was a much-maligned figure as Newcastle were relegated to the Championship last term, but his stock remains high, with a number of big-name clubs having been mentioned as suitors for the 26-year-old.
Indeed Sissoko’s future has been the subject of intense debate over the past 24 hours, with the Magpies having slapped a £35m price-tag on him, which has drawn an angry response from the player’s representatives.
Leicester have already snapped up Nampalys Mendy from Nice, who appears to be a like-for-like Kante replacement, but Sissoko’s energy could compliment the club’s current midfield options ahead of 2016/17.
