da betsul: If there is a player who was almost guaranteed to boost your FPL team’s points total each week, it’s Philippe Coutinho.
da bet sport: But the injury he picked up against Sunderland last weekend has left him sidelined for up to six weeks, meaning a huge percentage of FPL players have been scrambling for credible replacements ever since.
It’s difficult to replace a player like the Brazilian, though. He has been superb for Liverpool so far this season, contributing five goals and six assists in 13 Premier League appearances.
But we’ve crunched some numbers and found four players who might just be worth bringing in as cover while he’s sidelined.
Firstly, Swansea’s Leroy Fer has been in top form this season. The Dutch midfielder’s influence alongside Gylfi Sigurdsson can be seen as one of few positives to take from what has so been a torrid start to the the campaign for Bob Bradley’s men.
He has scored six goals and collected 58 FPL points along the way, giving him a modest 5.4 FPL points per 90 minutes played. The Swans have a relatively generous run of fixtures to come over the festive period and Fer is certainly one you should be considering.
Then there’s Theo Walcott, who is experiencing a new lease of life for Arsenal this term. Six goals and four assists from his opening 12 league appearances is an impressive return and, given the good form the Gunners are currently in, you would be mad not to consider bringing the England international in to replace Coutinho.
Walcott is owned by 14.4% of FPL teams so he can’t be considered a differential, but his return of 6.9 points per 90 minutes played means he is an attractive proposition for any FPL team’s midfield.
Thirdly, Victor Moses is a cheap option for you to consider. He isn’t the highest of scoring players but the Nigerian international has forced his way in to being one of Antonio Conte’s most trusted players this season and has contributed three goals and one assist from the wing-back role he is thriving in.
His consistent performances for the Blues have led to him earning 6.3 FPL points per 90 minutes played and, given his cheap price of just £5.3m, there’s every reason to consider him as your Coutinho replacement and then reinvest your profit elsewhere. Certainly one to consider.
And lastly, Juan Mata has been brilliant for Manchester United this season and still represents a decent differential option. His three goals and one assist for Jose Mourinho’s side this season have largely gone under the radar, which is reflected in the fact just 4.1% of people have him in their FPL teams.
Despite not yet completing a full 90 minutes this campaign, Mata is still a fantastic option for any FPL team’s midfield and with his price still standing at a reasonable £7.5m, any profit made from selling Coutinho can be reinvested to strengthen other areas of your team.
